Looks like we might be taking a temporary hiatus from board gaming as we introduce our third player two weeks ahead of schedule. It was an incredible long and stressful day and now we look forward to figuring out what it means to be parents. #newborn

Tackled our shelf of shame today and played Splotter's Antiquity. There was a lot of fiddly components (which we knew going in) and we definitely made some small rules goofs (that we tried to correct). I really liked the idea of the game but don't know if the execution was for us. The game can be punishing if you don't plan correctly and even best laid plans don't necessarily end up working out the way you want. I always try to give games multiple takes before I dismiss them but idk if we liked Antiquity enough to try again. Freedom: The Underground Railroad. Wow. This game tackled the horrid topic of slavery in the United States in a thoughtful and profound way. Each decision we made provoked some emotion, whether good or bad. The slaves were plain wooden cubes but you wanted to treat them as human beings but you quickly learned you can't save everyone... You end up treating people as resources and feeling dirty as you lose and it's all for naught. Bunny Kingdom never falls to impress. Knocked out a four-player game that was pretty tight until someone ran away with it at the end.
