We played Tales of the Arabian Nights last night for the first time and we were completely immersed in the stories being told. Our wealthy sultan was got incensed by a begger touching his robe and beat him to death, landing himself in prison. As soon as he escaped, he found himself back in prison for a second murder. His wealth and fame did nothing to keep him from a cold cell. Our suave, charming male swooned a princess and got married, settling down in Baghdad before they continued to travel the region. Shortly after the marriage, they became cursed and crippled, living some of their life in shame. The crippled status did not deter them though, as they completed a holy pilgrimage and fathered a child before being healed by a prophet. Why aren't the names of the buildings on the physical board? There's even a space for them. I understand trying to be language independent but the cards and player boards (and scenarios and such) have written English so why make me reference the rulebook or player aid so much? In the grand scheme of everything, this isn't that big of a deal...but combined with everything else the rulebook is vague or disjointed on, this is what pushes my buttons. I'm not ready to call this the worst rulebook I've ever encountered, but it very well might take that prize if I ever get to the actual game play. Still wrapping my head around Tapestry. It's funny. I don't find this to be a difficult game to pick up or play but I'm awful at it. The few times I feel like I'm going to compete to win, I get a poor card draw. Guess I'll play it again.
