Another Monday, another board game app reviewed with today's being Ticket to Ride: First Journey, the child friendly introduction to the Ticket to Ride universe. For children, this is a fine intro game with the streamlined rules, colorful board and quick game play but there isn't much depth behind the basic decision making and the inability to choose cards (as there's no market) leaves the fate of your strategy in luck's hands as opposed to your own. The app is a great port for the First Journey game but I just don't know if I like First Journey enough to want to play both. As an adult, the answer is an easy no. When my daughter is old enough to play games, maybe. My major knock on this app though is that there's no online play so you can't even have children play against their friends unless they're sitting right next to one another. Another Monday, another review of a digital board game implementation. Today I look at Patchwork, the two-player abstract game where players create a quilt! I've looked at this as a physical board game before and loved it. The digital version make a good game better. It's quicker to play, there's no set up and there's a full gamut of difficulties to play against in a solo mode.
