For a one-time use, the Wishing Well packs a significant punch. When played with the base game, this card is one you hope to see as trashing a card is nearly impossible. Even if you choose to ignore that action, being able to utilize the swords, movement, and/or health can be beneficial. The price is high, which tends to make this card a mid to late game acquisition but that’s the perfect time for it as you’re more than likely looking to either escape or regenerate your wounds.
When paired with either expansion, the Wishing Well is still a decent card but the trashing/discarding mechanic are not nearly as rare. The one time use of the card hurts its value when played with the expansions as well. I wouldn’t not buy it if it came up (especially if I needed the boots/swords/health), but it’s no longer as attractive as it once was.
